From July 1, 2024, Amsterdam will limit rents for many mid-range homes (about €880–€1,158 per month). Landlords must follow official rent caps and include a points system in the contract. The city can fine those who break the rules.
New buildings can charge a bit more (up to €1,274) until 2028 to help cover costs.
The city wants to grow the number of mid-range homes, but supply is still low and demand is high. Finding a rental may stay difficult for now.
